2020. When I was a kid I definitely pictured the year 2020 with flying cars and space suits. Now that it is here, I’m happy with my feet (and tires) firmly on the ground.
We brought in the New Year quietly in Mexico, watching Bedazzled, and Joseph sleeping soundly. Earlier we enjoyed a celebration with family all together for a quinceañera. It was full of smiles, laughter, and love. We really are very lucky.
I reflected on the past decade which saw many changes in life, but ultimately brought me here, where I am today. I am so grateful for all of the lessons I’ve learned, about myself, the world, other people. I’ve learned to let go of the things that don’t serve me, including people who bring pain into my life. I am grateful for all of that. For the good and the bad.
So now it is here, 2020. I may not be exactly where I want to be, but I am feeling really ready for all that is to come. I am studying a new skill, I have the opportunity to be home with my son, and I’ve met some amazing people that I am looking forward to spending more time with.
Some people say, “the best is yet to come.” Actually, there was a time I used to say that. But for me, I would rather not keep expecting better things. Now, I choose to appreciate and enjoy things as they come. If I keep looking ahead, I may miss the amazing things that are happening now.
I wish you all an amazing 2020. May you let go of the things that didn’t serve you, may you enjoy the moments right in front of you. Happy New Year!
